Tranquil and slightly absurd scene: giant Southern Ocean petrel fast asleep on surface of open Southern Ocean. Completely at peace — head tucked under wing, floating on ocean swell like very contented feathered boat. Ocean swells rising and falling around it. Bird completely undisturbed — rising and falling with each swell, still sound asleep. Around: vastness of open Southern Ocean; distant iceberg on horizon; few smaller birds flying past. Petrel completely unbothered by the world.
